Hello.

We are looking for someone local to be involved in the Tower  To Tower event on 27th July  creating a livinghistory /memory of that area of the city.

We need a local resident to take part in the event and share your knowledge of this area.

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS PLACE?

HAVE YOU LIVED HERE A LONG TIME?

WHAT COULD YOU TELL OTHERS ABOUT YOUR TIME HERE?

The performance event will take place on parts of the city walls on Wednesday 27th July, between 6pm and 8pm; an alternative history tour between Clifford’s Tower and Baile Hill.

If you are interested please contact us on info@garyandclaire.com (or alternatively 07904 415441) and we can arrange to meet a couple of times over the weeks leading up to the event.

The Facebook page is called (cryptically) ‘Kong Lear’s Dream Yards’.
We will develop a short story based on your experience of living here, that you will present to a passing audience on the tour. No performance experience necessary.

We can meet at your convenience and pay a fee for your time.

Many thanks,

Gary Winters and Claire Hind.

2011_07_23_Garden Fete_sackwinnerHi – just a reminder that the Fete is this Sunday. If anyone is able, ready and willing to help set up please come to the Community Garden 10.30am Sunday.

We’ll need to do some general tidying, bunting hanging, seat cleaning, stall erecting type stuff. Just turn up and ask for Fabiola, Emma or Pete and they’ll give you a job. Hope to see you there.

Hi all – quick reminder that there is a Fete organising meeting tonight, 7.30pm in the Golden Ball. If you want to get involved on the day, please come along.

Only 2 weeks until the Bishophill Summer Fete. Get ready for sack racing, face painting, tea drinking, cake eating, rat splatting, stall browsing, fund raising, craft buying, BBQing, live bands playing, local beer drinking and all the fun of the Fete.summer fete 2016

Thanks to the volunteers, and everyone who came last night, the Bishophill Summer Fete will happen on Sunday 19 June. All proceeds to refugee charities.

We still need helpers and donations, especially plants for the plant stall. If you can help on the day, or have plants to donate, please let us know asap.

And if your plants need a boost there’s still plenty of compost in the community garden!

We need all kinds of volunteers, from cake bakers to litter pickers. The more the merrier.

Also, John Sentamu is visiting Bishopthorpe Rd this Saturday (21st). If you, or someone you know, would like to meet him let us know, and we’ll see what we can do.

Hope to see you Thursday in the Ball.

Exciting News 100_6450

We are having a Summer Fete in the Community Garden on 19th June.

There’ll be: live music, scones, tea, cakes, face painting, BBQ, art activities, beer tent, stalls with books, dvd’s, plants and crafts for sale,  picnics, egg and spoon, three legged and sack racing, traditional games, biscuits and shenanigans.

If you can help with any of the above, then come join our feted band of volunteers when they meet in The Golden Ball 7.30 pm Thurs 19 May or get in touch via this blog or Facebook.com/bishophillbillies

Hi – the lovely community garden is looking a bit neglected. If you could spare an hour this weekend to help with a bit of tidying up that would be fantastic. We’ll aim for 10.30 Sunday, but if you want to do a bit anytime, that’d be great too. Thanks.

IMG_20160130_135820314The Snow Drops are out, the sun is shining and spring is round the corner.

It’s time to get active, we need you and there’s lots to do, such as:

  • tidy the community garden
  • organise a local get together or festival!
  • work on the shared allotment
  • plan a street party
  • book a charabang to the seaside

Whatever takes your fancy, or you think others will enjoy.

To get involved reply to this blog post or via the Facebook page. We can’t do it without you!

Big thanks to the folk who sang Carols and collected for charity round the streets of Bishophill last night.
More than thirty people joined the throng, and raised £167 for Oxfam.
Many thanks to everyone who donated so generously, and to Beth and staff in the Golden Ball for great post Carolling hospitality – it rounded
off the evening splendidly.
Most of your donations will be spent educating displaced kids in the Middle East.
Happy Christmas everyone.
