Hi Bishophillbillies

We’ve been contacted by the Friends of York Walls (www.yorkwalls.org.uk), who are hoping to organise a ‘Toft Fair’ in July 2012, within the city walls in Bishophill, as part of the 800 year celebrations. Another is planned for the Red Tower area, opposite Morrisons on Foss Island Road. A date hasn’t been set yet, other than holding it one weekend in July. I guess we’d still like to hold our summer fete, so will have to make sure our dates don’t clash!

The suggestions are to have charity stalls, food, music, local groups and residents associations, demonstrations and displays, bouncy castle, climbing wall, street sport etc, and to hold it on the ground between Victoria Bar and the playpark, closing Lower Priory St for the duration. The Council are supporting the plans and they have applied to the ward committee for funding. Obviously they would like the support and involvement of residents too.

Which is where you come in. There is a meeting planned on

MONDAY 14TH NOVEMBER at 7.15 at ACOMB FIRE STATION.

If any residents are willing and able to attend the meeting could they contact Keith by emailing info@yorkwalls.org.uk to let him know – and send a quick comment to the bishophillbillies website too if you’ve time.

Sounds like a lovely idea, and hope we can give it our support. Anyone wishing to find out more beforehand can catch the ‘York Walls’ group at a charity stall they are holding tommorrow:

SUNDAY 13TH NOVEMBER 9-4 OUTSIDE M&S on PARLIAMENT STREET. Keith will be there and would be happy to talk to anyone about the idea.

Hillbilly.
